What makes us happy? Living our best life involves evaluating our life, determining how to live out our purpose, and optimizing how we experience it from day to day.
Being mindful involves being open-minded and increasingly aware of our feelings and thoughts. Including Mindfulness activities in our daily lives encourages a happier, healthier lifestyle.
Scientific and medical researchers discovered that people live longer, more fulfilling lives in specific regions of the world, called Blue Zones. One of the common aspects to these Blue Zones is that the people who live there live, eat, and socialize in multi-generational family settings. This gives elder generations meaning and purpose as they pass down family stories and wisdom to the younger generations.

Caring for my centenarian grandmother, born 20 years after the Civil War in Northern Kentucky, was a wonderful education in mindfulness. She taught me how to cook German-American cuisine, garden and socialize with family and friends. We saw “Gone With the Wind” together and she taught me why it was important to know I was a Yankee. We laughed a lot and delighted in one another’s company. Meaningful inter-generational relationships are an important contributor to overall wellness.

As a health and wellness coach, I understand the importance of extended community to personal identity. I enjoy helping families make healthy choices and encouraging them to problem solve together. A tool I use in my coaching is the Real Balance Wheel of Life. There are nine sections in the Wheel of Life which represent Balance and Fulfillment. You rank your level of satisfaction in each life area 1-10. The closer you are to a 10, the more fulfilled you are. The new perimeter of the circle you draw represents your Wheel of Life. You determine how bumpy or smooth the ride would be if it were a real wheel. With your initial application and this information we plan for your coaching sessions.
